A Growing Voice for Women Investors and Business Leaders

Yvonne Campos, Next Act Fund's Founder and President, is becoming even more sought after as a key voice for women investors and early-stage women-led, women-owned companies looking to grow.

Just this week, Innovation Works invited a range of angel investors to Nova Place to share their insights and varied perspectives on how they work with entrepreneurs and think about investing. Yvonne shared the stage with four other angels, including Next Act Fund board member, Catherine Mott of BlueTree Allied Angels. Afterwards, entrepreneurs enjoyed  office hours with the angels.

Earlier in April as a part of its Inclusive Innovation Week, the City of Pittsburgh invited Yvonne to host a panel on the challenges women entrepreneurs face raising capital in Pittsburgh. Held at SmartSolutions, Yvonne brought together three women-led young companies and an investor to talk about their experiences, especially focusing on the experiences for female-led companies seeking capital when most investors are men.

The speakers spoke of the generally unconscious bias that most investors have towards women-led companies, despite the data showing that these companies often perform above average. Here's a shout-out to the panelists Sofia Berman of Trusst Lingerie, Marion Lewis of Board Bookit, and Nikki Navta of Zulama for facing the challenge of starting up companies despite the challenges, and to Will Frederick, our investor panelist, for being a supportive male who is fighting to help women get a spot at the investment table.
